Summer Vacation is here!... though it doesn't really feel like it. Gray and in the low 20s for the last few days... not really the typical south-west weather. But last year this time we had torrential rain for almost a week straight, so I guess this is an improvement. Hopefully the weather will turn around in the next few weeks.
We've done some gardening in the last few weeks and made some changes to the front yard. Carlos dug up the weed-choked lawn and reseeded, and we decided to put in a bed underneath the two front windows. We planted lavender, Summer Samba grass and sage but unfortunately the sage wasn't happy in the conditions here despite being well-watered, so we replaced it with "curry plants" that make nice yellow flowers about the same time the lavender is in bloom. Later, we bought some blocks to make a nice division between the lawn and the front bed.

Lavender and curry plant - makes for a nice smell when we go in and out the front door |
We also bought a nice hanging plant, though we weren't sure how it would do in the heat, but since the weather has been up and down lately and we've been keeping it well-watered, it has flourished.

Can't even see the pot anymore! |
Aimy is flourishing as well. She has grown another 2cm in a month... wow. We've moved on to meat and veggies at lunch and have added yogurt to snacktime, and as of our latest visit to the pediatrician, we can start with rice/pasta/quinoa etc. mixed with veggies, as well as cheeses. Aimy is usually a little hesitant the first time she tries something but the next time we offer it she gobbles it right up. She is babbling more and more often (lots of ba ba and ma ma's, especially in the car), though she wouldn't say anything in the pediatrician's office until just before we left, of course!
