Last Days in BC

Our time in BC was winding down but we still managed to do quite a few things before we left. Hilights included dinner with family friends and an amusing attempt to do plaster of Paris handprints, both of which are pictured here. And of course, there were Alixe's first steps, witnessed by Grampa and Aimy! I have videos of her first day walking but I couldn't upload them onto the blog... too bad. We did a lot of packing the last few days, and then it was back to France... until next time!

Climbing on her own at Bev and
Rob's
She almost didn't want to have
dinner, she loved sliding so much
Even Alixe tried the slide
And of course there was time spent
chatting on the phone... with Aunty
Sandra, she told me later.
Testing out one of our handprints
to see if her hand is bigger
Watching Gramma mix the plaster
of Paris
Alixe wanted to watch too
Ready? Aim...
We have touchdown!
Not so thrilled about the yucky  hand
Not bad!
First we tried her feet
She decided to wiggle her toes and make
a big mess
Watching everyone clean up the mess
Just handing out with Aunty Sandra
Trying again, this time with her hand
A bit squished, but you can sort of see
her hand!
Sunset on the plane ride back
Flying over Manitoba. We had 6 seats
for the 4 of us, which was a blessing
when the kids wanted to sleep!
Stay tuned for photos of our last few weeks of summer, plus Aimy's first day of school and more!

Vancouver Aquarium

One of the things we wanted to do with the kids was go to the Vancouver Aquarium. The closest comparable facilities in France are several hours away, and we thought we'd take advantage of the proximity of the VA and check it out. Aimy was fascinated by all the marine animals, and Alixe loved the Amazon section, so they both got something out of it. I think they'll enjoy it even more the next time we go back.

Trainer working with dolphins
Aimy watching in amazement
Trying to get a family photo, and the
beluga comes over to check us out!
Only when she swam away did I catch
everyone looking at the camera
Dolphin show!
Blurry speedy dolphins
Watching the belugas underwater
Remind anyone of some childhood photos?
A bird people-watching in the Amazon
Alixe admiring the bird.
LOOK!!
Very cool jellyfish

Back to the Island

At the end of my parents' holidays, we decided to all go together to visit family on the Island. Even though we went twice in one stay, it still didn't feel long enough to do everything we wanted to do! We still had a lot of fun though, and I hope our hosts did too.

Enjoying a walk with Uncle Bruce
and Aunty Jan
Cuddled up and asleep with Gramma
Looking for crabs. Uncle Bruce picked
up lots of rocks for Aimy that day!
Snuggling on the Brentwood Bay
Ferry
Beacon Hill Children's Farm!
Going up to pet the goats
Probably one of the only ones she touched
Brushing them was more fun
Alixe wanted to pet them all!

This one tried to eat her shirt, and she
loved it
Aimy loved the peacocks and wanted
me to post some pictures of them

Out for a walk by Tillicum Bridge. First
time Alixe walked while only
holding one hand!
Hanging out with Jack
She let Alexis hold her, probably
because they're practically name
buddies.
Aimy up in a big tree in Beacon Hill

Fun with Gramma and Grampa

Just some of the many things we did with my parents while they were on holiday.

Waiting impatiently for the train
Not sure if she wants to sit with us or with Gramma and
Grampa
I'll just smile at you and stay with them
Enjoying the train ride
Lynn Valley Suspension Bridge

Falls in Lynn Valley
Little mountain goat did some great
hiking on Mount Seymour
