April Showers...

We certainly have had a lot of them over the past two weeks! I've almost felt like I've been transported back to Vancouver, but with roof tiles and 12-18 degree days. It's really unseasonable weather for this time of year. Fortunately though the rainstorms have brought some beautiful rainbows!

It's Carlos's last day of holidays before the final stretch and I'm sad that he'll be going back to work, as it's been great having him home with us. However, May is full of statutory holidays so it will be an interesting month! May 1st is Labour Day, May 8th is Victory in Europe (VE) Day, May 17th is Ascension Day, and May 28th is Pentecost Monday. So Carlos doesn't have a full week of school until June! His last day is sometime in the first week of July, and I can't wait until he's on holiday for the summer...
Aren't I the cutest?!
Otherwise, Aimy has made some more progress in her rolling over. Now she will roll onto either side instead of just onto her right side. She is making deliberate grabs for objects too, and faces as well if they are close enough to touch, and I'm having to untangle fingers from my hair more often than I'd like.

In the middle of rolling over!
Playing with Daddy's nose
Practicing that head lift!
She has also been more irritable lately and has taken to chewing on whatever shoulder she happens to be snuggled up against... teething, anyone?

What's New?

In the last few weeks, Aimy has discovered that her fingers are fun to chew, her feet are fun to grab, and laughter is fun until it gives you the hiccups! She grabs objects that touch her hand, though she is not quite at the point of understanding that she can control her own arm and reach out for objects. However, once an object (or my hair) is in her grasp, she doesn't hesitate to pull it towards her mouth.
So big!
Almost too big for the laundry basket!
She can hold her head steady for long periods of time, though we do still get some head bobbing. She used to hate tummy time, but now that she can hold her head at a 90 degree angle and look at things in front of her, Aimy seems to enjoy it much more. She still tends to only laugh at me, but she has big adoring smiles for Carlos when he is home. And on Tuesday, she looked at the baby in the mirror and smiled at it for the first time! I wonder when she'll realize that the baby she now loves to smile at is herself...

In terms of height, Aimy is between the 75th and 80th percentiles for her age (everything else is average) so we think she might be trying to continue the Jones height trend.

Holding up my head is easy!
And today was very exciting: Aimy rolled onto her right side and back onto her back for the first time! Of course, the first instance was when she was looking for food, though afterwards it became a bit of a game for her, and lots of laughter ensued (mine and hers).

The camera is a source of much curiosity
She hasn't been sleeping as well lately, and I am wondering if that is because she was trying to roll over in her sleep and it woke her up. Fingers crossed that she gets back into sleeping for more than 6 hours straight again soon!
All snug and warm for an outing
